Summer please don’t leave me yet! I thoroughly enjoy each season especially living in Minnesota. Summer always seems to go by too fast though. Not just because if where we live, but I think it always has. As a kid I was always bummed to go back to school. I have lots of fun memories going to the lake, camping, swimming and playing outside until it was too dark to see. Sunburns and mosquito bites always didn’t feel so bad after a trip to Baskin Robbins or a slurpee from 7-eleven.

Hi…I’m home! If you follow me on Instagram (@cynthiajanine) you have seen some of my pictures from the last two weeks of traveling. Mr. D and I took off in our car and drove 5000 miles visiting family and some places we have been wanting to see. I will post about or vacation soon. I have been trying to get back into the swing of things since we have been back and I feel like it’s a little slower this time. My age? or all those miles?!
Today is National Dog Day so I wanted to introduce you to the two little fur babies that run our household. We jump for their every little need and shower them with kisses everyday. Tell them where I am going every time I walk out the door and when I will be back. They are very good at letting me know when someone is at the door and I never have to wonder when it’s time for dinner. They make our home complete.
Thanks to Hot Spot I am on the internet and typing this as we are driving down the road. I’m still amazed by this.
We left on Friday and stopped in Omaha, NE for a day and shopped at our favorite places then on to Colorado to visit my family. My Dad is fighting congestive heart failure so it was really nice to spend time with him. Tried to spoil him a bit…bought him some yummy food and goodies (he has a huge sweet tooth), some clothes and a new recliner. Got to see my Mom and brothers. It was a nice stop and I’m glad we did it.
We spent the night last night somewhere in the middle of Kansas. We are now on our way to the Biltmore Mansion in Ashville, North Carolina. This is something that we have wanted to do for years.
Also…today is Mr. D’s birthday!!! He is 51 and we will have to find some chocolate cake and ice cream somewhere for sure.
Here are my July favorites. Enjoy and I hope you are having the best summer yet! What have you been up to?
This is definitely my favorite not just for July, but for always. I had to sneak this one in here since today is his birthday. Looking like a hot 51 year old to me!
Can you believe that we are in August already?
Can you believe that I have been thinking about where to put the Christmas trees this year?
It’s a sickness…I know. I need counseling. I mean I haven’t even been on vacation yet!
Here we are in the hottest month of the year, so I thought we could all use some recipes to keep us on track health wise all the while keeping our kitchens cool.
This looks absolutely fabulous! I always forget about using lettuce in place of bread. If I am eating out I usually just take the bread out, but at home using lettuce is a great way to get a little more veggies in, too.
