Happy October! Can’t believe I’m saying that already. The stores are all confused with Halloween decor through Christmas! Halloween is not a huge deal around our home, but when I saw this DIY Easy Lighted Ghost I just knew I had to make it. You can “tweak” it to match a theme, your favorite football team, add a hat or a bow OR just leave it an adorable happy ghost!

Supplies you will need:

  • tomato cage (as big or small as you would like)
  • white lights (I used a strand of 100)
  • styrofoam ball
  • white sheet or a round plastic tablecloth
  • black felt
  • glue

Start by turning your tomato cage upside down and putting the head on the top. If you are using a styrofoam ball you will want to squeeze the end pieces together and hold it in place with a rubber band. Then just push the styrofoam ball down on the wires until it feels secure. Me? I was really cheap and just couldn’t justify $16 for a piece of styrofoam and found my daughter’s old volleyball. I bent the end pieces out to make a little stand that the ball sat on. It worked perfectly! Although, not sure what would happen in a high wind. ha!

Next wrap your lights starting at the bottom where it is plugged in. I used a strand of 100 and left half of it wrapped up on the bottom to give it that extra glow. A strand of 50 would be just fine.

Mia thinks everything is all about her. ♥

Next you will want to add your tablecloth or sheet over the top and then add the eyes. These are cut out of black felt and you can be creative with how ever you want the eyes to look! I started out with just plain glue, but they didn’t want to stay on very well (either that or it was my patience) so I ended up using a hot glue gun at this point.

Here it is finished! Adorable just like this, but I just HAD to keep going. lol I added a mouth and then had fun with some hats and a bow. Keep scrolling!

I LOVE it’s crooked little mouth.

Having fun with a few hats from my collection.

Which one is your favorite?

Here it is when it got completely dark outside. This DIY Easy Lighted Ghost would be adorable inside as well! Put it by the fireplace or just inside the door to great your company. It would be fun to put a grouping of them together, too! You could make them in different heights.

Not into the “crafty” thing? Here are some really cute and fun ways to add some “not spooky” (my favorite) decor to your home this Halloween.
