Wow! Life has really gotten in the way of my blogging lately. LOL First, I took a few days off to get my house cleaned…oh yes, I was getting really behind. When your hubs asks if there will be any clean underwear coming soon you know you’d better stop and catch up on things. Then this last week my daughter’s cosmetology school shut down. You may have seen it in the news. They closed all 79 schools across the country. No warning…one day they were in school then that night they get an email and the next day they were to go to the school and clean out their lockers. Yes…it was very traumatizing. We have since found another school and it looks like it’s all going to work out for the best. So…back to weekly dinner menus and looking for yummy desserts. Apple Scone anyone? Oh yes please! Especially with an apple cider cinnamon glaze.
I know we are into October and everything seems to have jumped from watermelon and strawberries straight to pumpkin. I mean…what happened to the apple?! So on the hunt I went for some yummy apple desserts. Yes, I will be giving a few of these a go…okay ALL OF THEM! These Apple Crisp Shortbread Bars are going to be a favorite with MrD. He adores shortbread and with some apple goodness on the top I know they are going to be a winner.
A few weekends ago while out exploring we tried and new restaurant and I ordered a grilled sandwich that was similar to this Apple & Gouda Grilled Cheese. It was fabulous and even MrD couldn’t get over the flavor. I was pretty stoked to find this recipe and will be fixing this sandwich soon along with some soup. The weather is getting cooler and this sounds perfect for warming up my family when they come in from the cold.
Salted Caramel Upside Down Cake. When I read the name of this dessert I seriously started drooling…I’m not going to lie. I mean say it again real slow this time. Salted. Caramel. Upside Down. Cake. Now hurry…run to your kitchen and make this!
Ok…for those (yes, I should be) that are trying your best to stay on track with the whole sugar thing, I mean Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming and we gotta save some “bad” days for that, right? So here you go. Low Sugar Apple Crisp. This comes from Dashing Dish and you all know I channel her recipes. There has not been one that I have fixed and not liked.
Happy October! You are awesome and…Hail the Apple!
