Wearing a Monochromatic Look for the Holidays

Last Friday night was Mr. Tom’s holiday party for his work. I shopped and stressed for 2+ weeks about what I was going to wear…why do we do these things to ourselves? Well, 30 minutes before we were supposed to leave I was getting dressed and everything felt wrong. Maybe because it was 100 degrees below zero out (okay not really, but it was in the 20’s) and I just wanted to stay home in my jammies.

Shoes~

My pants were too tight and my top just didn’t sit right. I ran to my closet in a panic and wore what is pictured above. Yep…I’m wearing a pair of jeans (I’ve had for a few years), a light black sweater (I’ve had even longer), a long suit jacket (it’s been at least 8 years since I wore it) and a new pair of shoes! I was so comfortable and it worked out to be perfect.

I guess what I’m saying is that instead of stressing about coordinating just the right outfit don’t worry because wearing a monochromatic look for the holidays is perfectly fine! Shop for those pieces that you can wear again and again and even pull off an outfit in a panic. Sorry that I cannot link my outfit except for my adorable shoes which you can find here. I am pulling some items together here for you that you can wear everyday and mix and match for that look you are most comfortable in.

Tops & Jackets~

Now for accessories you can add a pop of color. I didn’t go crazy, but my handbag has a gold chain and part of it has a cream background. My shoes have a little pop of bling also!
