I’m not gonna lie…THIS. WAS. AWESOME! Sorry about the blur, but those lanterns are constantly on the move and my phone just couldn’t keep up. 🙂 I have wanted to do this for awhile and was so excited when it came to our area. There is just something magical when thousands of lanterns are floating up in the air all at the same time.

A few suggestions when you go that I didn’t realize until we got there.

1. Wear tennis shoes…you will be in the dirt because you are dealing with flammable objects.

2. Take a chair and some snacks. The food lines are long and you don’t want to sit on the hard ground for very long waiting for it to get dark.

3. Bring bug spray! Yep, we got bit up.

4. Bring a light jacket (depending on where you live) it got chilly.

You might even catch a beautiful sunset!

A fun thing that helps fill your time is they give you markers so that you can write and draw all over your lantern. My husband had fun thinking of all the movies he could come up with that had to do with fire or explosions. Typical male. 🙂 I drew hearts all over mine and colored some of them in. I put our two doggie babies that are in heaven waiting for us…because you know all dogs go to heaven.

It’s really cool when it takes off. I was too busy taking pictures so my husband lite both of ours. It’s really awesome how a hush falls over the crowd as everyone watches the lanterns float across the sky. I’ve got a video for you at the end.

Hope you can get the chance to go! Have you ever been? Leave me a comment and let me know your experience. I would love to hear from you!

Cheers!   ~Cindy
