Five years ago in May we moved to Minnesota and started right away exploring towns on the weekends…one of our favorite things to do is a getaway to Duluth Minnesota. Duluth is at the top of places to spend a weekend or longer. In any season there is plenty to do. From hiking to shopping with plenty of good places to eat you will quickly fall in love with it, too.

Our last trip up was a few weekends ago. It was sooooo cold and Lake Superior was frozen along the edges. In parts the ice was breaking up into these huge chunks and the waves kept coming in and smashing them against the rocks. I wish you could have heard it. It was pretty mesmerizing and we could have stood there and listening to it for a long time except we were freezing!

One of our favorite places to stay is at BREEZY POINT CABINS. They are all renovated older cabins and they have done a fabulous job! Every time we go I always look around and think how awesome it would be to own some acreage and build these perfect little cabins all around the property for family and friends to stay in.

They are all built along the edge of Lake Superior and the views are awesome. It is so peaceful to sleep with the sound of the waves crashing outside of your window.

This is the view from the bedroom. They have studio cabins all the way to two bedrooms.

Here is bathroom view. I also has a shower and toilet in the same room.

The kitchen is complete with a refrigerator, dishwasher and stove. It’s all compact and laid out perfectly. Sit at the bar to eat or on the couch in front of the fireplace and watch tv if you can tear your eyes away from the view.

In the summer you can sit outside and grill or sit by a fire pit and roast some marshmallows.

In town there are plenty of fun places to shop (I love a good kitchen store) and eat. Even grab a coffee and some goodies.

This is at Amazing Grace Bakery & Cafe and they have some of the best baked goods in the area.

A friend of mine from Duluth recently recommended Chester Creek Cafe and my life was changed. I will never look at breakfast/brunch the same again. Everything is homemade and their sausage is to die for. As you can see I didn’t even take a picture of my food because once I took a bite I couldn’t stop! No lie. And….if you go, get the blueberry pie. It’s a game changer.

Here are some of other places to eat in the area that we always enjoy.

1. Pickwick     2. Fitger’s Brewhouse   3. Betty’s Pies

Some great places to hike or just go for a beautiful walk.

1. Magney-Snively Natural Area      2. Congdon Park     3. Lester Park

There is so much more to the area…like a mansion to tour, a zoo, museums and the list goes on and on. If you are ever coming to the area let me know and I will recommend things for you. Let me know if I can help!
